This week we were on the ground in New York for our annual Pioneer AI summit, covered on Fin Ideas on Friday. Tomorrow (Monday Oct 13), you can hear more about the release of our latest version of Fin, the highest performing AI Agent.
You can register here to watch tomorrow’s announcement.
“Like an alien superbloom”
Pioneer was, in a sense, all about change: the change we’re going through with AI and the cross-pollination of ideas, expertise and imagination that come with it. Our branding reflected that, and Figma wrote about it — interviewing our Head of Global Creative Studio Scott Smith, who said:
“If a typical brand is a world with a color palette, type system, and art direction, Intercom’s brand is a universe.”
AI is changing how we design
On a similar theme, this week on Fin Ideas Emmet Connolly and Thom Rimmer shared Intercom’s 3-point framework for AI-driven design, our approach to working with an evolving set of AI design and coding tools.
Check it out if you missed it:
Intercom's 3-point framework for AI-driven design
We all know that AI is changing how design gets done. At Intercom we led the charge earlier this year by having all of our designers ship code changes to production; in a short few months we’ve seen many other design teams follow suit, and it’s fast becoming standard practice.
Emmet also gave a talk about the changes afoot in design a few weeks ago at Hatch in Berlin, and his talk went online this week:
And to spread the message wider, last week he was onstage with Figma in Amsterdam along with several other design leaders for a panel discussion about how AI is changing design:
Agent Builder vs Fin Procedures
On Intercom Slack this week there was good discussion about OpenAI’s keynote, particularly its new Agent Builder.
Emmet shared his thoughts on it here on Fin Ideas on Friday:
A tale of two Agent Builders
On Monday this week OpenAI announced their new Agent Builder product at their annual Dev Day event. I watched this announcement with interest—not least because on Thursday this week we announced a similar product at our annual Pioneer event: a new Fin feature called
Let’s talk about change in London
If you’re in London, you can keep the AI-in-design discussion going at our first AI Design meetup on October 22 at the Intercom offices in Old Street.
Till next time
Be sure to tune in tomorrow for the Fin 3 announcement.
See you next week!
